The CITE, a program of the Council on International and Public Affairs, publishes CITE World Culture Series, presenting the world to readers through the "eyes" of its own peoples.
Known as the "Eyes" books, these textbooks — regularly updated — have sold more than half a million copies since the early 1970s.
Leon E. Clark, General Editor and Founder of the World Cultures Series, was professor emeritus of sociology at American University in Washington. He died unexpectedly in October 2003, leaving a legacy of the "Eyes" books below.
